Overview

Dāo Dao is an experimental social practice and storytelling initiative co-founded by Linyun Song and Xiyu Du.

Fieldwork Context

It began with fieldwork and workshops around Chinese migrant restaurant communities in Camberwell, using food, listening, sound recording, and informal conversation as methods for social connection.

Method

The initiative develops through community mapping and storytelling workshops, fieldwork documentation, booklet editing, translation of community research into public-facing formats, and collaborative visual material production. These outputs were developed with the Dāo Dao workshop team and participants. Related account: @kitch_endoor.

Reflection

While its first phase focused on migrant women’s everyday labour and restaurant spaces, the initiative remains open to broader forms of community storytelling, diasporic memory, food culture, and participatory archives.
